Is this feature already works with MarkdownPad ?

I've just created a little workaround and published it at Gist: https://gist.github.com/alinnert/6f44464185017bfc3000

The TOC gets created via JavaScript and shows up as a sidebar next to the content. It works in Firefox and Chrome. Internet Explorer falls back into IE7 mode but I don't know why. Either there's something wrong with the HTML or it just does that when you open HTML files locally. I can't tell right now. Either way: It doesn't work in IE.

The Gist also includes a manual how to include the script. I also needed to add some new styles so I took the GitHub CSS and extended it.

For some reason the TOC doesn't show up in the live preview. But I guess that has to do with the IE problem.

Many editors support it already: Stackedit, Haroopad, ReText...

Same problem in Firefox 43.0.4, actually: The TOC itself shows all right, but TOC links only work when you export the file to HTML and open it with the browser. They don't work with "Preview Markdown in Browser (F6)" (Firefox is my default browser).

The only difference is in the path:

file:///C:/Users/myname/AppData/Local/Temp/MarkdownPadPreview.html -> doesn't work
file:///C:/Users/myname/Desktop/TestDoc.html -> works

Doesn't really make sense, does it?

I've just tested it with Firefox 44. It works fine for me. Are you familiar with the Firefox Developer Tools? Can you tell me if there are any errors in the JavaScript Console?

Oh, now I see the problem. When you preview the HTML the links point to the actual exported file. That's really strange, since I just set the link to "#1". I don't use an absolute path. That's really odd.

I am looking for this feature too -- would want it before buying the paid version.
